Nathan Lynds: Meaford Discerning Community Leader

Nathan Lynds, a current New Ventures Apprentice, is leading this emerging discerning community in partnership with Owen Sound Alliance Church , and the Central District of The Alliance Canada.

Over the course of the next 6 to 9 months this community is committed to gathering regularly for prayer and to listen and see what Jesus is doing in this community.

Meaford is a picturesque town on the southern shore of Georgian Bay, situated between Owen Sound to the west and Collingwood to the south east. Over the past 4-5 years this community has seen a significant shift in demographics. Historically a more retirement geared community, Meaford has experienced an influx of younger families. These individuals are taking advantage of remote employment opportunities allowing them to settle in smaller communities, as well as upcoming jobs with an new energy initiative which will open further opportunity for construction and operations jobs for that project.

In response to this current and projected growth, Meaford discerning community is intentionally committed to understanding and discerning if there is a potential for future ministry opportunities. To focus their discernment the leadership team will use the following questions as a guide, by asking:

  1. Jesus, where are you at work in Meaford?

  2. As a community, how are you inviting us to partner with you?

If you’d like to partner with this community through prayer, you can join in praying for the following:

  • That God will continue to reveal to us where He is currently at work in Meaford and preparing for the boom in population.

  • For God to bring partners to be salt and light in Meaford, sharing in the joy of community rooted in Jesus.

  • That God will show us clear action steps and where we can serve alongside His faithful servants that have already been at work in Meaford.

  • For the guidance of the Holy Spirit to convict us for when we are simply doing things for God rather than doing things with God.
