Reaching South Asian families in Hamilton, ON

Prarthana Ka Ghar (House of Prayer) is an emerging New Venture located in Stoney Creek, a community within the city of Hamilton, Ontario. Led by Pastor Stephen Roy, this New Venture’s hope is to reach and serve South Asian families in the area. Stephen explains, “Our hope and prayer is that this New Venture will truly be a refuge for seekers all who will find a place of care, love, fellowship and also a place where they will hear the good news of Jesus Christ and become a part of the family of God.”

The community first emerged in late 2019, when a group of South Asian families started meeting as a small house fellowship. Since then, they have seen God’s provision in encouraging, extraordinary ways. When the pandemic hit in 2020, the community felt the need to keep meeting in some way. “We started meeting online weekly,” explains Stephen. “Later in 2020, we were able to rent a space in Stoney Creek, where we continue to meet every Sunday at 3 pm.  We have 4 to 6 families join us for worship every Sunday, and the Lord keeps adding to this number!”

Looking ahead, Prarthana Ka Ghar (House of Prayer) will continue to nurture this growing community through worship gatherings, mission-focused activities and community service. Driven by the teachings of Jesus, they hope to become a compassionate and inclusive expression of church for all. As a New Venture, their goal is to gain more stability and credibility in their focus area. “We also want an accountability partner that will provide them with spiritual insight, guidance, wisdom and maturity as we serve God and people.”

Prarthana Ka Ghar (House of Prayer) is a ministry of Paramount Drive Alliance Church, a New Venture of the Central Canadian District and supported by Stoney Creek Church of Christ.

PRAY

  • For spiritual growth in the families coming to worship at Prarthana Ka Ghar (House of Prayer).

  • For God’s provision. Some families are struggling and are unable to pay for their household needs.

  • For maturity and growth.

  • For wisdom and guidance, as a few families are not able to join for midweek devotions due to their work schedules. They have asked for prayers.
