Greg Musselman: Embracing the New in Owen Sound

Greg Musselman is launching a New Venture in Owen Sound called theXchange. It is a pilot project of what will hopefully become a stream of future New Ventures in the area, offering the hope of Jesus through practical ministry.

Greg recently shared about his experience in a newsletter (contact Greg to receive regular updates!). He writes:

The last few months have been the most difficult and rewarding in my season of ministry life. God has taught me what dependence on Him looks like when you don’t have order. In my previous ministry roles I hadn’t realized the extent of systems and structures which had been developed to allow leadership the ability to develop people and ministry as first priority.

As a New Venture leader, as much as I love creating new things, it is exhausting. It is a constant balance to invest appropriately in ministry relational, physical and administrative work. I’m learning more and more to simply start my day with, “Jesus bring to my mind the things I need to get done today and give me success in these things.” And you know what? He is faithful to answer this prayer! Jesus is teaching me what it means to remain in the vine for everything (John 15:5), and to put my energy into the most fruitful places.

Greg also shared a bit about how things are going as they prepare for their official launch.

The building is coming along, and is still on target for launch in January 2019. The front room has been created, and will serve as a kids zone during courses and a Wifi-equipped workspace during the day. (If anyone has some children's books in good condition or Lego to donate it would be appreciated - please contact Greg if you’re in the Owen Sound area!)

God is also continuing to bring further clarity and ministry partners. The vision verse Luke 4:17-18 increasingly reveals God's heart to use the centre to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour.

As for our financial situation, one of the key areas to work out in this pilot is to determine a financially sustainable model. Currently the 4 rental units come close to covering the monthly building costs. Additional revenue and donations are needed to support the managing director’s salary.

We are thrilled to watch this New Venture grow as Greg and the community move towards their launch.
