Including everyone: An Update from Faith Christian Alliance Church

When their new venture journey began, one of Faith Christian Alliance Church’s planned values was, ‘We are a family. Our church is a home for people of all ages and stages and we live life together, as a family.’

Three years later, this has remained true as their community has continued to grow and take shape. One glance at their calendar, filled with events like VBS, prayer meetings, family retreats, leadership trainings and an upcoming Christmas musical, and its easy to see that FCAC continues to hold fast to that original value. It is clear that this family includes a variety of ages and stages and many ways for all to be involved.

Recently, Faith Christian Alliance Church celebrated their first ever intergenerational worship service, where each age group was represented from Boomers to Gen X, and Millennials down to Gen Z. Everyone took part in the entire worship service, from leading, readings, praise and worship, singing, ushering and serving. Pastor Teresa Tong, the guest speaker, shared a message that was very relatable for the children in attendance. This Intergenerational Service was such a success that the church leadership is looking into how to incorporate it as a more regular event!

Alongside being a family, FCAC also believes that, ‘We are better together. Everyone has a unique gift to offer and so we work together, leading and serving as a team.’ And they have been working hard at holding this value as they begin to raise leaders in their community.

One particular area has been their Praise and Worship Ministry which has been growing and becoming more empowering to the younger people in their congregation. A newly formed “Tween Band” is made up of members who are grades 4-7, the junior youth of the church. These youth have not had formal musical training outside of church and most of them had had no experience with playing instruments at all. But FCAC’s Music Pastor, Rei Jeriel Felomino has been patiently leading, training and organizing all of Praise and Worship Ministry and this has lead to equipping these youth and giving them opportunity to serve their community.

In such a short time, the FCAC family has grown to become an important presence in their community where people have found belonging and identity. There has been so much to celebrate and so much to look ahead to!
