Summer Invitation Series: Embrace the people God is bringing to Canada
For this week’s summer invitation, we’re inviting you to embrace the people God is bringing to Canada.
Did you know? By 2023, Canada plans to welcome 1.23 million new permanent residents. Whether you live in an urban centre or not, there will likely be a few new people or families in your neighbourhood or church in coming years.
As the church, we are called to bring the light of Jesus to the nations. What better way to do that than loving the new people God is bringing to Canada with great care and intention?
Why not take a first step in learning more about new people in your neighbourhood? Check out Statistics Canada's census profile of your region. Just type in your postal code to the postal code search box, and explore!
Then, you might find it interesting to take a look at a helpful page that the Western Canadian District has set up on their website. They have curated a list of resources to equip and inspire you to reach out cross-culturally.
Welcome to summer invitations. As we disengage from formal ministry commitments, summer can be a time to build a reading list, seek new voices, and be refreshed. Especially as pandemic restrictions lift, our heart is to help you get out there and rediscover Canada as we continue in our mission of hopeful engagement with the church and our Canadian context. Each week we will be sharing a simple summer invitation to help you see Canada in a fresh way.
