Shaping New Ministry Leaders in Calgary, AB

Levi recently completed a year of New Venture apprenticeship in Calgary.

What happens when people have a heart for ministry but are not exactly sure to where or to whom God is calling them? One answer is found in the structure of New Venture Apprenticeships.

Whether an individual is in a season of transition or finding his or her fit in vocational ministry, New Ventures provides customized Apprenticeships that help lead to vocational clarity. Over the course of 12-24 months, each Apprentice is paired with mentors and connected with various hands-on opportunities that allow them to experiment and grow during their discernment journey.

Levi Fehr is a young leader in Alberta who recently completed a year of apprenticeship with New Ventures at his home church, The Exchange in Calgary. His primary goals were to grow in the areas of disciple making, mission, and spiritual renewal, and to discern a call to start a new faith community.

Over the course of the apprenticeship, Levi had the opportunity to start a powerful prayer and intercession ministry at The Exchange and lead a diverse group of prayer warriors. He was also able to attend a Soul Care conference, in addition to participating in Capstone Church’s evangelism training and preaching school. Other opportunities for Levi such as overseeing baptisms and preaching helped further hone his ministry skills.

For Levi, while this apprenticeship did not conclude with a strong sense to plant a new church, he comes away from the experience with a desire to carry on in his discernment journey and to gain a few more years experience in a local church.

Says one of his supervisors, Nick Kadun, “This apprenticeship has done much to grow Levi, and we praise God for this! He leaves the apprenticeship healthier, more full of the Spirit and joy, and more excited for making disciples where God has, and will, plant him. Levi concludes this experience excited for what’s next, and hopeful as he looks to the future.”
